#Yermek Sagimbayev
Born on October 11, 1967, in Almaty Region. Ethnically Kazakh.
Graduate of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute (specialty — Electromechanical Engineering) and Kazakh National University (specialty — Jurisprudence).
Served in the Armed Forces of the USSR (1985–1987). From 1994 to 2006, held officer positions in the national security bodies of Kazakhstan.
In May 2006, he joined the Presidential Security Service of Kazakhstan. From 2006 to 2019, he served in officer and leadership positions within the Service’s apparatus and operational support units. From May 8, 2019, to July 28, 2021, he was Deputy Chief of the State Security Service of Kazakhstan and Head of the Presidential Security Service. On May 6, 2020, he was awarded the rank of Major General of the State Security Service of Kazakhstan.
From July 28 to August 25, 2021, he served as Deputy Chief of the State Security Service, after which he was appointed Head of the Service.
Amid the protests on January 5, 2022, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev appointed Sagimbayev as Chairman of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, replacing Karim Massimov.
On May 6, 2022, by presidential decree, he was awarded the special rank of Lieutenant General of National Security.
On November 28, 2022, he was appointed Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
