Digital Footprint

2 may 2026

“Digital Footprint” is an investigative documentary about how, often without realizing it, we leave behind a detailed portrait of our lives online every single day. Search queries, purchases, messages, and social media posts are not just scattered pieces of data, but a complete digital biography — one that may be far easier to access than we think. At the center of the film is an experiment: a cybersecurity expert and an ordinary user are given the same conditions — only a person’s first and last name and a limited amount of time. Their task is to gather as much information as possible from open sources. Alongside the experiment, the author explores what makes up a digital footprint, which data we share voluntarily, and which information is collected without our knowledge. Step by step, the film reveals where the line between private and public exists in the digital age — and whether that line still exists at all.
