Since 2010, Astana has been home to the city's only mineralogical museum, which is considered the best in Central Asia in terms of the variety of minerals on display. The museum's collection includes over a thousand exhibits. The founder of the museum, the honored geologist of Kazakhstan, Uljabay Ismailov, has been working in the field for half a century and continues to make a significant personal contribution to geological research and the strengthening of the country's mineral resource base.
